Believe it or not, but last week on April 1st...and it's not a April Fool's joke we had snow in the morning, but by noon it was all gone again. Hard to believe that was just a week ago, because today we are basking in sunshine and it seems like summer has started with temperatures around 22 C (72 F). We won't complain about this wonderful weather. It has been nice since Friday and gradually the temperatures have been rising and it has become sunnier and sunnier. This will last for another few days, so we must enjoy it!
Geloof het of niet, maar vorige week op 1 april...en dit is geen april grap, hadden we nog sneeuw in de voormiddag, maar tegen de middag was het weer allemaal weg. Het is bijna niet te geloven, omdat we vandaag buiten kunnen zonnen en het is precies alsof de zomer begonnen is met temperaturen rond de 22 C. We zullen zeker niet klagen met dit schitterend weer. Het is mooi sinds vrijdag en stilletjes aan is het gaan opwarmen en zonniger geworden. Last week I worked most of the week, but I was off on Friday and Saturday. Michael was off Monday and Tuesday as well as we had new pavers put in our patio area. These guys took out all the cement and put in the new pavers in about 2 days. It looks wonderful and we really like it. Below here you can see a photo taken in the fall the way it looked then and the next photos are a few of the new pavers. We still have to seal them which will make it waterproof and the pavers will look a bit darker. Further we are getting a new patio cover as well with new posts and everything, but that's probably for the end of this month or next month! Vorige week heb ik bijna de hele week gewerkt, maar had vrijdag en zaterdag vrij. Michael had maandag en dinsdag vrij genomen omdat we nieuwe klinkers gingen krijgen op ons terras. Deze mannen hadden al de cement weggekapt en de klinkers gelegd op 2 dagen. Het ziet er prachtig uit en we vinden het heel mooi. Hier beneden vind je een foto hoe het eruit zag in het najaar en daaronder zie je een paar foto's van hoe het er nu uitziet. We moeten er nog een sealer op verven en dit maakt de klinkers dan waterdicht en ze zullen er dan ook wat donkerder uitzien. On Friday I took it easy, but Saturday we went out most of the day. We left around 10.00am to go to the Autoshow in the BC Place in downtown Vancouver and to spend some time in downtown Vancouver. On Friday I heard on the radio that the new convention centre in Vancouver was going to be open to the public on Saturday and Sunday and it was free entrance. Well, since we were in downtown Vancouver we wouldn’t want to miss this. This place will be used for all kinds of conventions, exhibits, shows and so much more. The biggest event will be the Winter Olympic Games in 2010, this place will be the media centre from where all the different countries will broadcast the Olympics to their TV stations. What an amazing building, it’s huge and it is so beautiful. We were absolutely stunned by it and are happy we had the opportunity to see it inside and out. The views from here are just incredible. Op vrijdag heb ik niet veel gedaan, maar zaterdag zijn we bijna de hele dag weggeweest. We zijn rond 10u vertrokken om naar de Autoshow te gaan in de BC Place in downtown Vancouver en om wat rond te wandelen in Vancouver. Op vrijdag had ik op de radio gehoord dat het nieuwe conventie centrum in Vancouver open was voor het publiek op zaterdag en zondag en de ingang was gratis. Wel, sinds we toch in het centrum zouden zijn wilden we dit niet missen. Dit gebouw zal gebruikt worden voor alle soorten tentoonstelling, conventies, shows en veel meer. Het grootste event zijn de Olympische Winterspelen in 2010. Dit zal het mediacentrum zijn van waaruit alle TV reporters hun reportages zullen uitzenden tijdens de Olypische spelen. Wat een prachtig gebouw, het is zo greeot en zo mooi. We waren er echt van vesteld en zijn blij dat we de kans hebben gehad om dit te zien, vanbinnen en vanbuiten. De zichten van hieruit zijn ongelofelijk.My favourite car of the show…the Audi R8 This could be my next car… the VW Passat CC…so nice! And who doesn’t like the Ford Mustang Shelby?
