Enjoying the weekend

The weekend is over again and we had a good weekend. This time I was off the whole weekend as well so we did a few things together. On Saturday we didn’t do too much, we stayed at home in the morning and went to the mall for a while in the afternoon as it was raining. We didn’t really buy too much, just a few groceries and some other little things. In the evening we watched a movie we still had on DVD. We watched “Journey to the center of the earth”, surprisingly it was a very entertaining and adventurous movie. We really enjoyed it and we weren’t bored for one moment. We just relaxed for the rest of the evening. Below here you can see the movie trailer of "Journey to the center of the earth".

On Sunday we woke up to a blue sky and sunshine. In the morning we took it easy and since the weather was so nice we decided to go out after lunch. We weren’t too sure where to go, but we knew we didn’t want to go too far as there was a hockey game on the TV at 4.00pm. We decided to go to Barnet Marine Park (located in Burnaby) as you can walk along the water for quite some ways. This place is about 15 minutes driving from our place. But first we stopped at Burnaby Mountain. There were quite some people around. It was such a clear day and you could see far in the distance. It looked like there was a bit of fresh snow on top of the mountains. We walked around for awhile at Burnaby Mountain and took some photos.

After a visit to Burnaby Mountain we drove to Barnet Marine Park where we walked the trail along the shoreline and back. I think the trail is a few km/mi one way, but I am not sure how long this trail is. We went all the way to the end and along the way you can enjoy the beautiful views over the Burrard Inlet, the mountains and much more. We saw lots of people with their dogs and quite a few sailboats on the water. There were some people crabbing along the shoreline and they caught quite a few big crabs. On the way back we noticed a few bald eagles flying around, one landed on one of the old wooden pillars in the water. We were anxious to get closer so we could take some photos. We got fairly close to the water and could see this beautiful bird sitting there so nicely. We got some nice shots. As we were on the rocky beach, due to the low tide, we noticed tons of purple sea stars on the shoreline…this was really amazing to see. This park was really worth a visit this afternoon. We really enjoyed ourselves. When we got home I noticed that it was about 67 F (19 C) on our thermometer outside on the patio (in the sun and out of the wind). The weather was wonderful today. We took it easy the rest of the evening.
